When it comes to writing, overthinking can doom you before you begin. Here are 3 very practical tips to help you focus on your writing:
So much disappointment occurs in the life of the writer when they don’t learn to let go and let the words flow at their natural pace. Everything you see and encounter in your daily life took time to grow. Your writing will too.
Almost all great writers began as good readers. A literate mind is one that has overflowing creativity. Always make time for a good book: your writing will improve tremendously.
3. Be Selfish (with a caveat)
This might seem counter-intuitive, but don’t be afraid to be a selfish writer. What we mean is this: at the end of the day, if you don’t like what you are writing, no one else will. Be indulgent, cater to your every whim – but be prepared for your editor to probably cut out most of that stuff you love so dearly (more on the dreaded draft process in a future post).
